Why marraiges fail ( Anne Roiphe)

 This essay tackles the issue of marriage and more importantly the mistakes couples make that inevitably lead to separation or divorce. The author, Anne Roiphe uses Cause and effect to bring across her ideas. One of the main problems mentioned that resonates with me is the false idea that a partner would solve prior problems in an individual's life and that they would become the center of their universe and live happily ever after. I also believe one of the main causes of divorce is unmet expectations and in order for a marriage to thrive these expectations must actually be achievable and communicated. I fully agree with the points mentioned but I think I would have enjoyed this essay more if a sarcastic or jovial approach was taken.
