Unforgettable Miss Bessie (Carl T. Rowan)

Carl T. Rowan begins this short story by describing Miss Bessie as only being five feet tall and weighing less than 110 pounds but the paradox being her towering presence in the classroom. There are a few other instances of comparing and contrasting such as when Miss Bessie tells Carl that it not only takes guts to play football but also to refuse lowering your standards.

I can relate to this story because while attending college, Maths was a course I was required to do and although I strongly dislike anything Math related, my teacher took a particular interest in me and made the class entertaining. I throw around the "favorite teacher" term very loosely but when referring to her I'm being sincere. I was even inspired by her to ensure I get to class on time which transferred to getting anywhere on time. I can honestly say my life improved for the better after meeting Mrs. J. Underwood.
