My daughter smokes (Alice Walker)

 This story gives a detailed description of what a mother experiences watching her daughter take up a habit of smoking. Words such as annoyed and terrible are how the mother describes her feelings to her daughters habit. I can imagine being a parent and struggling with an addiction then overcoming it only to watch your child walk down that same path. The writer also spoke about how careful she was while being pregnant to ensure she birthed a healthy child and ponders that it was almost all for nothing. 

I personally feel like smoking is a dangerous addiction because whether its Marijuana or tobacco the smoke damages the individual's lungs and may lead to lung cancer which is one of the few reasons I don't smoke.
